Inside the Barn at Legacy Ranch: Horsekeeping Made Beautiful, Practical, and Easy

August 04, 20251 min read

This barn was built from experience—every detail makes horsekeeping easier, safer, and a whole lot more joyful. There’s something incredibly satisfying about a barn that just works. If you’ve ever hauled water buckets through the snow or flipped a coin over who gets the one outlet for their fan, you know exactly what I mean.

When I designed the barn at Legacy Ranch, I wasn’t dreaming of chandeliers or cobblestone aisles—I was dreaming of effortless, joyful horsekeeping. This space had to be warm in winter, cool in summer, functional on a busy day, and still beautiful enough to stand there at sunset and just breathe.

And I think we nailed it.

In this video tour, I’ll show you:

  • How the four roomy stalls (one oversized for a big guy like my 17-hand gelding) are fully matted, have electric at each stall, and walk out to pastures or catch pens.

  • How the automatic overhead door on the west side frames the most stunning sunsets over Pikes Peak—making evening turnout feel like a movie scene.

  • The non-slip rubber flooring throughout the aisle and treatment area.

  • Our heated bathroom, feed/tack room with built-ins, and Dutch door access for easy morning routines.

  • The run-outs, pens, and easy access to multiple fields for flexible grazing and herd management.

And let’s not forget the hot/cold water, lighting, and even the catch-pen design to keep dinner-time chaos at bay.

This barn was built from experience. From years of “making do” and finally saying, “What if we did it right?”

If you’ve been dreaming of a better barn—one that makes caring for your horses a joy, not a chore—you’re going to love this.
